As it starts to cool outside you will want to bring warmth into your home and a simple yet effective way to do this is with colour. However, as we’ve learned in our series of Decorate with Colour blogs, adding colour to a room is not as simple as it may first appear. Many individuals do not understand the positive and negative effects of every shade. Knowing these tips can help us to put them to good use in our homes and us to help get the desired effect in our bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms and every room between. Whether it’s painted on the walls or incorporated through the use of furniture or home accessories, colour has the ability to add real character to a space. In this blog, EZ Living Furniture will be focusing on the trending colours of autumn and winter 2021, what each colour symbolises, and how to welcome it into your space.
The Heuston bar stools (shown here) are upholstered in a rust-coloured velvet.
Rust
Rust or burnt orange, as it is most commonly known, is perfect for those who wish to invite a warm and cosy feeling into their homes. This colour is most often associated with autumn, but that doesn’t mean it can’t also lend itself to the winter months. This colour is considered to be a very competent colour because it can encourage, uplift and stimulate everyone that is in its presence. A mixture of brown, orange, and red, it is best complemented with lashings of white, black or navy blues.

Lemon Yellow
Lemon yellow and bright yellow are quickly on their way to becoming the most popular colours for winter 2021. This colour promotes boldness, alertness and joy. When overused it has the ability to overpower a room which is why it should be used sparingly throughout the home. Think yellow armchairs, dining chairs, and lamps with muted surroundings such as tan or toffee shades. The Whitby dining chairs are stylish in powder blue and modern white.
Powder Blue
Powder blue is a calming, peaceful colour. According to colour psychology, this shade of blue is associated with reliability and trustworthiness. It can help to promote feelings of tranquillity and is one of the most sought after colours of autumn/winter 2021. Favoured by many people because of its gentle appearance and close links with a clear blue sky and seawater. Be careful not to overwork this colour as it can come across as passive and depressing.
The Alexo dusky pink pouffe (pictured) compliments a wide variety of colours including the teal fabric found on the Capri sofa and armchair.
Dusky Pink
Dusky pink and variations of this colour are bang on trend for this season. Overall, they have a great influence on good manners and calmness. Peach, terracotta, and salmon are known to be excellent colours for communication. Every shade of pink is seen as a very positive colour. It can leave individuals feeling happy, warm and full of love in its presence. However, it’s important to note that too much pink can be physically and emotionally draining. To help combat this try incorporating it into rooms in smaller doses. An item such as an armchair in a bedroom, a pouffe in a living room, or a bar stool in a kitchen would be the perfect pop of colour for your on-trend homes.
Bring an element of nature into your home with this set of two marine green Leroy footstools.
Marine Green
Green is another calming and soothing colour that is trending for autumn/winter 2021. Marine green in particular is the most positive of hues found in the colour wheel. Offering a wide range of benefits such as balance, growth, and restoration, it is a colour that is most beneficial for your interior. Green has close links with the outdoors and autumn especially is all about bringing the natural world into your home decor. Place this colour next to a dusky pink or lemon yellow for the ultimate statement.
The Riley powder blue and dusky pink bar stools are perfectly on-trend this season.
So there you have it. For the AW21 season, we are seeing bar stools, table lamps, dining chairs, and pouffes in powder blues, soft yellows and other pastels. It’s a surprising shakeup from the brown-toned colours we usually see during this time of year. And luckily, they all pair quite well together - if we do say so ourselves.
