Read: Decorate With Colour: 2022 Trends
Last time, we spoke about the trending colours of the entire year for 2022. This included calming blues, chalky greens, sunny yellows, milky neutrals, and harmonious pinks. Of course, with it being early 2022, these colours are still relevant. However, there are still quite a few colours that are especially fitting for the upcoming seasons that are worth taking note of. Remember, introducing these colours into a bedroom, living room, or dining room doesn’t have to be difficult. Yes, you can paint these shades on the walls, if you wish, but you can also introduce these in smaller doses here and there. Home accessories are a great way to incorporate all of these trending colours into every room without overpowering it.
So, without further ado, let’s get started…..
Spring & Summer Colour Trends for 2022:
Mocha Brown
A mocha brown colour helps to warm the spirit or so they say. Brown and its various shades are often forgotten within the home unless it's in the dining room on a wooden dining table or dining chair. We often associate brown with being boring, dull, and unimaginative, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Brown is comforting, dependable, and it helps to stabilise us while keeping us more grounded. It also helps us to appreciate the simple things in life. A mocha brown colour can be seen on our Gus bar stools above and would make a wonderful addition next to a bar counter or kitchen island.
Skydiver Blue
In the most recent edition of our Decorate With Colour blog, various shades of blue were mentioned but light blue was the primary focus. This time, vibrant, skydiver blue is the colour to include in interiors for the upcoming season. This supersonic blue colour, pictured on the Sophia armchair above is electric in its intensity. Blue, and particularly, this tone of blue is calming, so what better place to include this in than a living room on a sofa, armchair, or footstool? Sprinkled throughout the home, you could turn every space into a relaxing oasis with just a hint of this colour. If you are in need of a peaceful and supportive environment in the home, then look no further. Productivity is also known to improve with a little help from our friend, so this colour could also be useful in a home office or study room.
Tactical Teal
Also known as harbour blue, tactical teal is a colour that we have been seeing a lot of lately. Quite frankly, it’s such a beautiful colour that we hope we never stop seeing it. Shown here on our Adare footstool and sofa, it really is such a versatile and luxurious colour, especially when featured on velvet upholstery. Teal is a combination of both blue and green, so of course it has the calming qualities that blue has, but it also has stability from the green. Trustworthiness and reliability are what teal is known for which is why you might see this colour on a lot of marketing material. This welcoming colour is something that you could include in a hallway, kitchen or even guest bedroom. Honestly though, it’s so flexible it could be incorporated into any space with a simple vase, or piece of wall art on the walls.
Radiating Red
Red might not be your first or even your second choice for inclusion in home decor, but it certainly should be for this upcoming season. Red is one of the on-trend colours for spring and summer 2022. The colour of passion and drama, red has the ability to draw attention. Because it’s such an attention-grabbing shade, it should be used sparingly and cleverly in each room. Large amounts of red are reminiscent of warning signs and evil connotations but included in smaller amounts it represents power and strength. This brave, bold shade infuses a room with courage, energy and excitement and who would willingly pass up on that? This commanding heated red can be found on the Dante lounge chair above. This chair is versatile and could be used as a bedroom chair, an armchair in the living room, or a spare chair for the dining room.
Playful Purple
Purple is our final on-trend colour for spring and summer in 2022. As its name suggests, purple is a playful shade. It’s most often seen in children’s bedrooms but that doesn’t mean it can’t be used elsewhere in the home. Purple is created by mixing both blue and red together. It embodies red’s stimulation and blue’s calm. The perfect combination if you ask us. Creativity is encouraged by using this colour. Its uplifting nature is counteracted by its calming qualities which is why it is most often seen in mindfulness and health settings. Purple also has links to royalty because it was the royal colour of the Caesars. VIP areas still sometimes used this to create a sense of elite, wealth, and exclusivity. Our Leroy footstools come in a luxurious, playful purple. They come in sets of 2, one smaller than the other and the inside of each one can be used for storage. These have the perfect quantity of purple to imbue a sense of royalty in a space.
So, if you want to feel like the king or queen of your castle, try using a little purple?
With so many playful colour trends for this upcoming season, there’s never been a better time to experiment with new colours in the home. Embrace a new shade with open arms and experience all that it has to offer. Enjoy its positive effect on your wellbeing and then sit back, relax and reap the rewards.
