Christmas season is officially here and even though it's not even December, most of us are already excitedly embellishing our homes with sparkling decor. Christmas trees might have already been dug out and assembled at this point (and hey….we’re not here to judge). Still, putting up the same Xmas decor in the same areas year after year can feel a bit “samey”. Unfortunately, you lose that excitement you once felt with those decorations but don’t worry, EZ Living Furniture is here to help. Here, we’re sharing some non-traditional ways of using your fabulous baubles, wreaths, garlands & more…
1. Hang Baubles From A Decorative Ladder
Did you know that baubles aren’t just for your Christmas tree? It’s true! While traditionally that’s where they’ve always been placed, that doesn’t mean you can’t use them elsewhere in the home throughout the holiday season. Baubles whether glass or plastic, silver or gold, can dangle from pretty much anywhere - so long as they’re out of reach of small children and pets, and the item used to can easily withhold their weight.
As you can see, we’ve decided to use our baubles on a decorative ladder with some foliage (pine-berry spray) and multiple ribbons. The baubles are hung using strings of various lengths and because this isn’t uniform to the eye, it instantly creates visual interest and will grab the attention of any visitor in the home. Our Poppy Ladder linked here is another alternative to the ladder used above. Poppy features a mirror and several shelves which would be perfect for any additional Christmas ornaments. When Xmas is over, you can simply remove all of the decorations and your ladder can remain on display and won’t need to be packed away with the rest of the Christmas decor.
2. Display Baubles In A Decorative Bowl
If you haven’t already invested in a decorative bowl for your coffee table, sideboard, or dining table - why? It’s an inexpensive accessory that can be used for so many different things. Whether you’re a practical individual who needs a place to store fruit in your kitchen or someone who needs to keep their keys in an easy-to-grab spot on the side, you need a decorative bowl year-round. But did you know that during Christmas, this same bowl can be a great place to display your favourite baubles? It’s true! By doing so, you can instantly transform a space into a winter wonderland and all it takes is placing a few glittery baubles in a bowl. 3. Use Garlands Around Mirrors
Garlands are typically found on the handrail of a staircase or above a fireplace, but as we already know from our bauble decor above, they don’t have to be. Instead, we have fastened our Pine Needle LED Garland around a mirror and this can be easily done using inexpensive materials such as heavy-duty (or double-sided) tape or removable Command Strips. This simple trick can help you bring Christmas to a variety of rooms around the house.
4. Repurpose Wreaths As Table Decor
Wreaths are typically found hanging from a door, but what if they could be used for something else? Well, they can be! As you can see from our Berry and Pine Wreath pictured above, it can also work incredibly well as table decor during the holiday season. We used a few LED candles in the centre to create a warm and inviting feeling in the space, but you can put many other items in their place - baubles and sprays, to name a few. Wreaths are easy to repurpose as table decor and can be used on pretty much any surface around the house whether that’s a coffee table, sideboard, dining table, or display unit.
If you have recently changed up your Christmas theme for this year or simply decided on a new colour scheme, this could be the perfect way to use an old wreath that no longer fits with your current decor.
5. Hang Wreaths From Mirrors
If you have a few mirrors scattered around the house then lucky you! Not only are mirrors incredibly versatile for everyday life but they can also be dressed up throughout Christmas to bring a hint of magic to a space. Still, any wreath regardless of its theme can be easily hung from a mirror using a Command Hook.
