Gone For Good - Bold Marble
While marble is still very much on-trend, including it in our homes in a big way isn’t (anymore). That means white marble sinks paired with marble countertops and accompanying marble dining tables are quietly disappearing from our homes in 2024. Quite frankly, this is welcome news, our homes were fast becoming “clinical dentist offices” rather than warm and inviting spaces. Of course, like with everything else, all things look good in moderation, so maybe don’t rule it out completely and instead try to include marble in smaller amounts. Think home accessories and even surfaces are still ok too, but perhaps not every single surface in the one area or it will become overwhelming for you and any visitors to your home.
Gone For Good - Statement Lamps
It was all about statement lamps in 2023. Regardless of the material, the focus was firmly on creating a big impact with a large table lamp or even a tall floor lamp. 2024 is much different in that the focus lies on the materials and colours your lamp has. It seems the New Year is prioritising nature-inspired lighting with bamboo elements and natural fibres. The lighting style for next year is not to overwhelm, but instead, enhance the feeling of a cosy and calming environment. Mushroom-shaped lampshades will only prove to complete the on-trend lighting look for 2024.
Gone For Good - Hints of Gold
This year, we saw hints of gold taking over our houses. A touch of this luxurious material sprinkled around each room in the form of a small ornament, mirror, or home accessory was all we needed to feel a little “fancy”. Now, luxurious materials are far from our minds because we’re making way for wicker, rattan, and other natural elements.
Here To Stay - Organic Materials
2023 was all about nature and it looks like 2024 will remain the same. Simply put, we are continuing to bring the outdoors into our homes next year. This doesn’t mean foliage, (although that is always heavily encouraged), it’s more about using materials found in nature throughout your home. Wood and rattan are perfect examples. Wood has unique patterns that would help to reinforce a person’s connectivity to nature in the home and this is ultimately what we want to accomplish. Biophilic design was huge last year and it looks like this will continue long into the future.
Here To Stay - Neutral & Earthy Colours
Beige, cocoa-brown, tan, blush, sunset terracotta, and pastel hues are still very much on-trend for 2024. Thankfully, it’s something we’re very much still in love with and we’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of it in the New Year. While they truly are beautiful tones, the best thing about them has to be that they are incredibly versatile and can be used in any room in the home.
Here To Stay - Curves & Rounded Edges
We’ve enjoyed seeing lots of curves and rounded edges over the last year. You’ll be delighted to hear that this trend is sticking around for 2024 too! Pointed edges can come across as dramatic and severe which is why we love to see other shapes getting a look in. Rounded edges and curves are softer and will immediately put someone at ease in their presence.
