A conservatory (or sunroom) is the perfect addition to any home. These additional structures are designed to bring in as much light as possible to one end of your house. Typically, these window-filled buildings can be found at the back of a house leading out into a garden. From here, the view will almost certainly be nothing short of spectacular. Even if your garden is a little less than impressive, being able to see the outdoors brings a sense of calm and cosiness to most people. When the summer months have come and gone, a sunroom is still a great place to snuggle up with a book and a fluffy throw, especially because you're covered by a roof. Decorating a conservatory for both summer and winter can be a little trickier though. Knowing what furniture and home accessories will see you through the entire year is particularly difficult. Luckily, EZ Living Furniture is here to save the day once again. In this blog, you will find useful tips along with furniture suggestions that will help you create the most beautiful sunroom your friends and family have ever seen.

Presley Beige Fabric Corner Sofa RHF at EZ Living Furniture.

Sunroom Sofa

Since a sunroom is protected from the elements such as wind, rain, and snow, you can be a little more flexible when it comes to furniture. When choosing a couch, armchair, or even egg chair, you needn’t worry about whether they have weather-proofing materials, unless, of course, you want to have the option of using them both indoors and outdoors. In which case, can we suggest purchasing garden furniture? If you only want furniture for indoors, you can experiment with colours and fabrics to your heart's content. While some individuals still like to use materials such as rattan as an ode to the outdoors, you certainly don’t have to. Light fabrics such as the beige-coloured material used on our Presely RHF Chaise above work well in multiple spaces, including the conservatory. We recommend sticking with lighter-coloured fabrics in a sunroom to keep the room looking and feeling light and airy.

EZ TIP: If possible, keep furniture away from direct sunlight in the conservatory. Colours, especially darker tones, can fade quickly when positioned right next to windows. Materials such as leather should be avoided completely because they can quickly dry out and crack when not regularly moisturised using a leather care kit.

Sunroom Armchair

An armchair will always leave room for experimentation, in our opinion. Choosing an unusual striped or zig-zag pattern will create a beautiful statement next to a plain-upholstered sofa. You can really go wild with an armchair's design here! The Kilronan Armchair above is a statement piece with a striking fabric guaranteed to enhance a variety of spaces including a sunroom. When teamed up with the Tara Sofa, you will create a fabulous suite perfect for any conservatory. The plush, foam and feather filled seat cushions on the Tara Sofa will also ensure you spend many, comfortable hours listening to your favourite podcast or reading your most-treasured novel. An alternative to a regular armchair is, of course, an egg chair. If you prefer more of an encapsulating and snug feeling when spending time alone in a sun-soaked room, an egg chair could be just the chair for you - check out the Fiji Egg Chair here!

Dawn Square Oak Coffee Table at EZ Living Furniture.

Sunroom Coffee Table

Depending on the size of your sunroom, you may or may not want to include a coffee table. We would always recommend having some type of surface in every room. So, if you’re struggling to include a large-sized coffee table, consider a nest of tables which easily sit back in under one another when not in use. A coffee table, nest of tables, or even a console table can be used to place those endless cups of tea on, so it is extremely important to have one in a conservatory. If not for that, then for the visual appeal of a table next to a sofa. The Dawn Square Coffee Table would be the ideal choice as it's finished in a beautiful light oak and relatively small in size. To finish, we suggest using a tray to group together small accessories such as vases, candle holders, and decorative bowls.

Sunroom Throws & Cushions

“It’s all about the finishing touches”, this is what interior designer and social media executive Ola Jordan lives by and she hasn’t steered us wrong up until now. Just look at her amazing decorating tips on our Instagram page here.

Small furnishings like throws and decorative cushions are sometimes forgotten but they are essential items that can tie a whole room together to create that cohesive and stunning look. Used in a sunroom, cushions will not only enhance a person’s comfort but will also add to the entire “outdoorsy” look. The Richelle Blue Sapphire Cushion above is a perfect choice for the items we have already chosen for a beautiful sunroom.

Selection of Artificial Plants at EZ Living Furniture.

Sunroom Plants Or Artificial Plants

Have you ever heard the phrase “bringing the outdoors in”? Quite simply, it means bringing elements of nature into your home - plants, flowers etc. This is especially beneficial when it comes to the conservatory because this particular room will be filled with light for the majority of the year. In this room, you will have the ability to grow herbs and plants and create your own indoor garden. Flowers, plants, or even artificial plants will also help to positively impact a person’s mental health, so it definitely pays to include these in as many rooms in the home as you can. If your conservatory doesn’t overlook a green area such as a garden, woods, or field of some kind, including plants is even more important.
