With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s time to start prepping for a whole pile of festive activities. Christmas decorating is probably the most important task and if we may say so, the most satisfying. There’s an instant, magical improvement in the appearance of a home when stockings are hung from a mantlepiece, Christmas ornaments are carefully placed in the hallway, and baubles are delicately hung from the branches of our Christmas trees. It truly is a magical time of year, but one that does, unfortunately, require some initial planning, if you want to shop smart that is. It’s extremely tempting to just impulsively buy seasonal decor that you like, but that can lead to a mismatch of things that don’t really go together. Instead, it’s best to choose a colour scheme and then stick with accessories that tie in with that. For the first time in a long time though, it seems that colours are changing. To discover all of the trending colours for this year and to bring your Christmas decor into 2023, keep reading below.
Metallics
Metallics are set to be huge this year. We know, we know, they’ve always been big, but this year it’s different. Instead of the predictability of a sparkling silver ornament, we can expect to see:
- Gold
- Champagne
- Bronze
All of these shiny materials will instantly add an element of luxury to your Christmas decor. As with all glossy substances though, they can’t truly pop without being paired with an accompanying colour.
Royal Blue
A few years back, royal blue was the ultimate trending colour, especially when it came to home decor. Walls were painted in it, accessories were coated in it, and kitchen cabinets were sprayed with it. Since then, we’ve seen a decline in dark wall colours and moved more towards neutrals. Now, don’t get us wrong, we love a muted shade here at EZ Living Furniture, but that doesn’t also mean that we don’t like to see the return of a much-loved, dark-hued favourite. Royal blue is back, and it’s being paired with the list of beautiful metallics mentioned above. That’s right, if you want something a little different but on-trend this year, then opt for some baubles in this beautiful royal blue and either a gold, champagne, or bronze accompanying colour. You’ll be delighted to know that, thankfully, this isn’t the only moody colour set to make a dramatic return for Christmas 2023………
Forest Green
It all started like this - we loved it, then we really loved it, we began to see it everywhere which made us hate it, and then it disappeared completely. Now we can’t wait for its return, which, fortunately, it has. That’s right, forest green is back and while it’s no longer being brushed across our walls, it is set to be another dark colour that’s trending for Christmas 2023. Instead of using a royal blue as your base colour, another alternative is this, a beautiful forest green. Again, it can be paired with one of the metallics listed above to create a big and sparkling statement for the upcoming holiday season.
Neutrals
We had you fooled there, didn’t we? You were just expecting inky colours to be on our list of trending colours for the magical season, but where would our home decor be without a sensational neutral incorporated into it in one way or another? Quite frankly, we don’t know, and we don’t want to know either. Taupe, off-white, caramel, and cocoa colours are just some of the muted colours that would look fantastic paired with our magical metallics above and coincidently, are part of the colour trends for 2023. The best thing about these colours though, is that some of the accessories you invest in can become part of your permanent decor, if you they are not too “Christmasy”. Because you see, neutrals have been trending for quite some time, and it doesn’t look likely that they will disappear anytime soon - thankfully.
