Framed Print - Setting Sail
Framed print of seaside scene
An atmospheric and charming framed print, Setting Sail would enhance any room. This beautiful composition by Anthony Waller is printed on hand torn watercolour paper and this approach complements the simplicity of Waller’s artistic style.
Setting Sail depicts a pretty harbour with white cliffs rising up in the distance. Sailing boats are bobbing on the waves and a rowing boat sits on the shoreline in front of a row of traditional coastal cottages. The composition is rendered with a fabulous simplicity and captures the character of the harbour with the lightest of touches. The muted tones of the watercolour together with the neutral frame create a versatile piece which would fit seamlessly into a variety of decorative schemes. Setting Sail is fitted with picture wire to the reverse and so is ready to hang.
Anthony Waller was born in 1932 and became a fighter pilot in the RAF before pursuing a career in marketing. But his passions were art and photography and so it was inevitable that he would turn to painting full time. He is inspired by the beauty of the British coast and the work of leading photographers. He uses direct observation and photographic images to inform his compositions. Waller’s work is highly regarded and extremely collectable but he is now largely retired and so original pieces are in short supply. This print provides a great opportunity to enjoy a fabulous Anthony Waller composition in your own home.
A wonderful finishing touch for any room but particularly suited to bedrooms with a nautical theme, Setting Sail is a delightful picture. If you love this watercolour then you will also adore The Blue House, a sister piece by Anthony Waller which you will find in our range.
